Sunthareswaran Vithyasahar from our college won a bronze medal at the eighth International Junior Science Olympiad held in Durban, South Africa from 1st to 9th December.
Eighth International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) was held in Durban, South Africa from 1st to 9th December. It is an international science competition for students aged 15 and below.From Sri Lanka 5 students participated in the competition. Sunthareswaran Vithyasahar and Anandharaja Harishankar represented Jaffna Hindu College in the Sri Lankan team. Altogether, more than 300 students from 42 countries participated in the Science Olympiad.
In the competition, Sunthareswaran Vithyasahar won a bronze medal for Sri Lanka and made Jaffna Hindu College proud. College science teacher Mr. Sockalingham Harishankar accompanied the two students.
UK and Melbourne OBA's timely support helped the students to participate in the competition. UK OBA sponsored the airfare for one student (Rs.136,500.00),Melbourne OBA paid 85,000 Rupees for the other student with SDS payment of Rs.50,000.
Principal thanked UK and Melbourne OBAs for their timely help, which gave encouragement for them to win this precious award.
