The OBA Norway has decided to set up "Norway Fund' to support destitute students who are in need of financial support to continue their studies, they are looking for generosity from its members towards 'Norway Fund.
OBA Norway dinner is an annual event in the calendar of its membership activities. But in 2009, the dinner and other major activities were cancelled due to the country (Sri Lanka) situation. The committee for 2010 has decided to set up 'Norway Fund,' a welfare fund which will be used to support the JHC students who excel in studies (rank 1 to 5) but do not have the financial means to continue their studies. The fund will be used to pay school fees, school books and hostel fees for such students.
Many war affected students were admitted to JHC and are staying at the school hostel. The committee has already discussed about this project with the school principal and collected information about the student needs.
Most of the OBA Norway members have agreed to pay 100kr each month for this fund. The committee intends to open the fund from April 2010.
