The Jaffna Hindu College Association (JHCA) Canada had its annual cultural event, 'Kalaiyarasi' on Saturday, September 25th, 2010. This event took place at the Chinese Cultural Center located close to the main intersection of Markham Ave. & Sheppard Ave. in Scarborough.
The event was greatly successful and was a good showcase of Tamil cultural dances, drama, and music group performances. About 450 - 500 JHC old boys, family members, teachers, well wishers and friends attended this event. According to the comments from attendees, the overall program performances were very good. There was something in the program for different types of participants. The dance performances were a treat for people who love classical dances. The drama was full of comedy and entertained everyone. The music programs performed by Sabtheswara music group and Agni group were top notch and provided good entertainment. The 'college song', Canadian national anthem and Thamil thai vaalthu all performed in innovative ways were very refreshing.
The chief guest Mr. V. Gunaratnam, in his usual jovial way delivered an unconventional and thought provoking speech.
Kalaiyarasi event helps to bring JHC old boys living in Canada together and reemphasize their commitment to help the school.
A book was released to mark the event.
