
Jaffna Hindu OBA Sydney knocked out St. John’s OBA in the cricket match played today (Sunday, 30 October 2011) at the Henley park, Portland Street, Enfield, Sydney for the P.S.Kumaraswamy and S.Thanapalan Trophy. This is the second successive victory for Hindu OBA in Sydney. First win was against Hartley College, Jaffna.
Hindu Won the toss and selecting to bat first scored 238 runs for 9 wickets in 40 overs. Gobishankar played well for Hindu OBA and got 45 runs. Ramesh also contributed well to raise the score up. JHC team was captained by Srikanth.
St. John’s College (SJC) OBA team, captained by T.Thirukkumar, in reply scored only 172 runs in 40 overs. Varathakeyan bowling well for JHC, took 3 SJC wickets for 23 runs. JHC won the match by 66 runs and took the P.S.Kumaraswamy and S.Thanapalan Trophy.Gobishankar from JHC was selected as the Man of the Match. Ramesh from JHC was adjusted as the best batsman, Rajan from SJC was the best bowler, and Gobinath from JHC was the best fielder. Johnson and Pathmasiri were the umpires.
The presentation was held at 6 PM. Jeyakanthan, President JHC OBA , Jeyaram, President SJC OBA , Srikanth Captain JHC , T.Thirukkumar, Captain SJC delivered speeches.CEO of Mobile SIM, LEBERA dealer in Australia, Mr.A.Sutharson presented the trophies to the winners. The P.S.Kumaraswamy and S.Thanapalan Trophy was presented to Jaffna Hindu College Team by K.Jeyakanthan President Jaffna Hindu College OBA Sydney and Mr.Srikanth captain received it.
