[Video inside] Two 30 overs matches, one for over 40 age group and the other open, were played between Jaffna Hindu Sydney OBA and Hartley Sydney OBA today (Monday, 4 Oct) at Jones Park, Banks Street, Mays Hill.
In the open match, Hindu won the toss and opted to bat first. It scored 172 runs in 30 overs and Hartley only managed to get 128 runs. Gobi scored 61 runs for Hindus and Murali took 3 wickets. Gobi was named 'Man of the Match' and the best batsman of the open team while Murali was the best bowler of the open team. Niranjan from Hartley was adjusted as the best fielder.
In the match for Over 40 team, Hartley went in to bat first and scored 115 runs, Hindu with the need to get 116 runs to win the match managed it in its 29th over. Skanthakumaran(Kanthan) from Hindu was the 'Man of the Match' and the best batsman was Manimaran from Hartley. Dr.Ambi and Pakiyarajah, both from Hindu were named respectively as the best fielder and best bowler.
More than 100 people participated at the match.
BBQ Lunch and refreshment were also served.
