Visuvanather Kailasapillai, President of JHC Trust Colombo, Patron of JHCOBA Colombo, and former President of All Ceylon Hindu Congress, has passed away on Sunday, the 19th Feb 2017, in Colombo. He studied at Jaffna Hindu College from 1943 to 1952 in the maths stream. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, 21st Feb 2017, in Colombo.
Mr.Kailasapillai was born on 31st March 1934 in Arali, Jaffna. He was the loving brother of Dr.V.Ambalavanar (Past President, JHCOBA Colombo), loving husband of Abiramy Kailasapillai (Jaffna Hindu Ladies College, Trasurer of All Ceylon Hindu Congress 2017), and loving father of Aravinthan and Arunthathy.
Mr.Kailasapillai was a very active member of and contributor to JHCOBA Colombo and Jaffna Hindu College. He has made a huge financial contributions to Jaffna Hindu Community, All Ceylon Hindu Congress, Thiruketheeswaram Society and for other humanitarian activities.

Visuvanather Kailasapillai projected a larger than life figure in business world. He was a Chairman of the Colombo Stock Exchange and was the Vice President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka in 1977. He has played an active role in compiling Tamil Glossaries in Accounting. He was inducted into the hall of fame of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Sri Lanka in 2012. He has served in the Councils of University of Kelaniya and Postgraduate Institute of Management Sri Lanka. After a protracted period of service in the business sector, he retired in 1996 as deputy chairman and group finance director of John Keels Holding Ltd. His contribution to the John Keell’s group has been remarkable. He played a key role in the planning and policy formulation of the group including strategic and tax planning.
Apart from his professional career, he has contributed a lot to social and religious activities as well. He has decorated the following posts in the past.
