Hindu beats Hartley on both open and over-40 cricket challange in Sydney

Hindu OBA beats Hartley OBA in both the cricket matches played today in Sydney for the Hartley - Hindu Challenge Cup 2013. Jaffna Hindu Over-40 team won the match comfortably by 54 runs and the Jaffna Hindu Open team won the match by 23 runs.
Hartley - Hindu Challenge Cup Cricket Tournament is an annual event conducted during a long weekend between Jaffna Hindu and Hartley College OBAs in Sydney. Two matches are played in the tournament; one for over-40 age group and the other is an open match. This year the tournament was held on Monday, 7th October 2013, at the Jones Park, Banks Street, Mays Hill.
Jaffna Hindu won the toss of both matches and opted to bat first. Jaffna Hindu Over-40 team scored 221 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the 40 overs played. Chasing a good score of 221, Hartley lost all wickets for 167 runs, and Jaffna Hindu won the match by 54 runs. The Man of the Match was Srikanth and the Best Bowler was Sivashankar, and both were from Jaffna Hindu College. The Best Batsman and the Best Fielder were Kannan and Mani, and both were from Hartley College. The Jaffna Hindu Over-40 team was captained by Varatharajah and the Hartley team was captained by Kannan.
In the second match, Jaffna Hindu Open team scored 206 runs for 9 wickets in the 40 overs, and Hartley, though played a good game, managed to get only 183 runs, loosing all the wickets. Jaffna Hindu won the match by 23 runs. The Man of the Match was Nirmalan from Jaffna Hindu and he was the Best Bowler too. Best fielder was Ranjithan, again from Jaffna Hindu College and the Best Best Batsman was Vasanth from Hartley College.The Jaffna Hindu Open team was captained by Vijithan and the Hartley team was captained by Ranjaan. 
The match closed at 6PM with the presentation of awards.
