He was a student, teacher and finally retired as Principal from Jaffna Hindu. From the primary level to his retirement he grew with the school and the lives of both were inter-twined. On finishing his degree, he was one of those hand picked by Principal A.Cumaraswamy to teach History in the Advanced Level classes. After a long career as a teacher, he left on being selected to join the Ceylon Education Service and later was Principal of Karainagar Hindu College, Kokuvil Hindu College and Mahajana College before taking over at Jaffna Hindu College in 1975. He being an athlete and a scout in his younger days, later as a teacher and as the head of the school, contributed in no small measure for the wholesome development of all the students under his charge. During his headship, the institution excelled in all fields and shone as a model national school.
